A Card for the Just Magnolia Challenge - "Hot and Spicy"

Good Morning Girls, hope you are enjoying your bank holiday, at least yesterday was dry and sunny, and my hubby and I went out for a lovely walk around the rec and the adjoining fields, we even had a hanger on for one of the fields a big black standard Poodle, not sure who he belonged to, but he seemed to enjoy our company as much as we did, but he did dissappear as quickly as he had appeared so weve no idea who he belonged to.
Todays card is created for this weeks Just Magnolia Challenge "Hot and Spicy", Ive used this lovely image of Tilda eating a Ice Lolly, Ive stamped her onto white card and coloured her with my copic pens, after which I cut her out with my Oval Nestabilitie die, and used my catseye inkpad to distress the edges, Ive layered her up onto a piece of orange card, the sentiment is another of the Just Magnolia stamps and Ive done the same with this as I did the image.
The base card is a 7"x 7" white card with a first layer of yellow card, and one of three papers from the new Donna of Bearly Mine Designs they are a yellow spotted one, a very pretty yellow rose one and the striped one in the centre, these were layered up according to a sketch I found I think its probably Bevs one but carnt be completely sure at the moment without checking, I do apologise Bev.
Across the gap between the two bottom papers Ive stuck a line of flowers that I first put through my Xyron sticker maker, I then positioned my mounted image in the centre and my sentiment at the bottom on the right hand side. I created a corner spray out of my flowers that I have in my stash, there are roses, cherry blossoms, babys breathe and a couple of others, they were then stuck to the corner with some silicone glue.

One Card for Two Challenges - Mo's and Cute Card Thursday Challenge

Todays card has been created for two challenges, Mo's "Celebrate Baby with extra Ribbon & Bows" and Cute Card Thursday's "No Designer Papers", Ive used this gorgeous image of baby "Fairy Anaya" I printed it onto a piece of white card and coloured her with copic pens then Ive used some glitter on the wings, after cutting it out Ive used one of my swirl stamps around the edge with a pink inkpad. I then mounted it onto a piece of pink card ready to put on my card.
The card is 8"x 8" white card, with a first layer of pink card, I then created a paper from some pink paper and my swirl, flower, leaves, butterfly and bee stamps Ive used several colours from my catseye inkpads and randomly stamped all over the paper. This was then covered with a square of red pearlescent paper on which Ive used my flower all around punch set from Martha Stewart this was put in a diamond shape, after which Ive layered two pieces of ribbon across the centre and attached them to the back.
The mounted image was then stuck in the centre, and my sentiment at the bottom on the right hand side.
To finish of Ive used a net and button flower but before sticking it to my card, Ive cut a piece of red organza ribbon and run a row of stitches along one edge and drew it into a circle which was then stuck behind the net flower, this was then stuck to the card with some punched out maidenhair fern leaves. I also stuck two little white ribbon bows to the right hand side at the top.

Sample No 4 for Sarah - "Kingfisher" Card

This is the forth sample Ive created for Sarah from her new CD "Feathered Friends" and this one is of a beautiful image of a Kingfisher, Ive also used some of the small extra images to create a waterfall for the inside. The main card is a 8"x 8" design, and the outside mount is silver with one of two paper designs that Ive used is a gorgeous montage of wording and images. And onto this I have created a mount for the main image of again silver mirri card, and stuck these together with some foam tape, before sticking it to the card I have used a piece of velum and one of my corner and border arched punches sets from Martha Stewart and made a square mat then wrapped a piece of blue spotted ribbon around both before the mounting it on top of. The border at the bottom is to hold the sentiment and at the moment Ive discovered Ive forgotten to put one on it, will have to dig out my peeloffs again.
The inside is again another silver mirri card mount with the second paper, this has bubbles and fish in the background with a beautiful strip along the bottom of the kingfisher bird heads. I created the waterfall with five of the smaller images and stuck them to a rotating piece of card before fixing the bottom to the mount with blue brads, it was then stuck to the inside of the card to hide the backs of the brads. To operate if all you do is pull that extra piece of card at the bottom to cause the little images to flip up.

Sample No.3 for Sarah - an"Owl Tent Card"

Good Morning Girls, Im so glad that you are enjoying seeing these samples Ive created from Sarah Hallams new Cd "Feather Friends" the images on the cd are stunning and Im sure it will be a great success when Sarah previews it on Create and Craft on the 17th June at 9am, I want to wish her all the success in the world, its been a long time coming and she so deserves it. Ive been a great lover of her work for at least 5 years and this new way of presenting them on Create and Craft is the way she can allow everyone to enjoy her beautiful work.
Anyway this sample has been created from this beautiful Owl image, Sarah actually draws all these birds then buts them into her graphics program and colours them, and then creates all the extras from the same drawings, the backing papers, the tags, inserts, ribbons etc its a fantastic collection believe me, Ive only picked six of the images but there are a hell of  a lot more on there. Anyway Ive printed the image onto photo paper and cut it out with my Nestabilitie Oval die, and created a mount for it out of beige pearlescent card with a Scalloped die then mounted them together with some foam tape.
The actual tent card is a 7.50"x 7.50" size card and Ive used two of the backing papers for the inside and out, Ive mounted both of these on some more of the same beige card, and on the front Ive cut a oval aperture for the owl to be suspended from, around the edge to cover up any crooked edges Ive put some thin peeloffs.
To finish of Ive hung the owl from the middle of the aperture, and created two flowers from some of the left over paper and my Nellie Snellen flower punches, in the centre Ive also put some yellow stickles, then mounted them on some punched out fern leaves.

A second sample for Sarah - "The Chaffinch" Bookmark Card

Todays sample for Sarah has been created with the Chaffinch design set, and Ive printed the topper sheet out onto photo paper and used three of the pictures from it, the main topper for the inside and two smaller ones for the front.
This is a bookmark card, and as you can see Ive created two pockets on the inside for the two bookmarks that Ive also printed onto photo paper, and cut them out by hand and put them through my laminator. I used two backing paper designs for the inside, and have layered one of them onto gold mirri card, one for the centre and two smaller ones for the pockets. The main topper was then mounted onto gold card, and Ive created a square from some bronze pearlised paper and the bird all around Martha Stewart punch set and popped it underneath the mounted topper. The verse below it was printed onto second of the paper before being cut out and stuck down under the mount.
The outside of the card has two panels and one paper design, which I have used on both of them and on top of this these Ive put the two smaller toppers which I have mounted onto pieces of gold mirri board, in the two corners Ive used some gold corner peel offs, and the sentiment is another of the tags that Ive put a sentiment on in My Craft Studio, after which Ive put some peel off around the edge before mounting it onto a cold mirri card scalloped mount.
To finish of Ive punched some fern leaves out of some bronze pearlised paper and popped a Prima Poppy on top.

A Brand New CD from Peerless Designs - Feathered Friends

You might be wandering why I havent posted any cards for a couple of days, firstly its been because I have been painting our bedroom and in the hot weather it wasnt particularly the best time to do it but unfortunately once started I could hardly stop. And the other reason is that my dear friend Sarah Hallam of Peerless Designs has asked me to create some samples for her from her brilliant new CD "Feathered Friends" to show on its launch day 17th June at 9am on Create and Craft.
Sarah has created the most gorgeous images again for this CD all birds as the title says and has even done some no stamp required digi stamps which I believe can be used for backgrounds and then you can stick any image in front of it, they can be left black like the one above behind the bird or it can also be coloured by any medium you like once youve printed it out.
I have chosen this gorgeous Blue Tit for my first card, and all Sarahs design sets come with many backing papers, tags and ribbons, decoupage, inserts, sentiments, boxes, this one has a calendar, envelopes, frames, extra toppers etc and also help files, so you wont be left alone if you have any problems.
Ive taken the main topper into my My Craft Studio program and reduced its size and flipped it so that I could create the right size topper for this card. Im not quite sure what they call this particular card design but to me its a card within a card, the outside one is a 8"x 8"x 4" card and the smaller one is 5"x 5", Ive used two papers for the larger one and placed them on gold mirri card to mount them up, and the smaller card has also got two papers mounted in the same way, remembering to make sure that the card opens in the opposite way to the normal one, I also put an insert inside the smaller one with a verse printed on it to.
To finish of the front I have taken the ribbon into My Craft Studio again and printed a sentiment on it and stuck it to the front small panel at the bottom, not to easy to see in this photo, but it says "Thinking of You". Ive also used my swirls template to create a swirl on the front and some green pearls. The flowers were created from of the left over paper and my Nellie Snellen flower punches, also some maidenhair fern leaves were stuck to the card first before the flowers were placed on top. And the very last thing is the three pearls placed at the bottom on the right hand side.
I sincerely hope you also agree what a beautiful image this one is and I will be making another card to post tomorrow, but I will keep one back from the six samples Ive been asked to make, to show you just before her show is due to go air so I can remind you of the time its due on.

And she is offering 5 digi images as a prize, so Im sure there will be a great rush to take part in this challenge, and as there will be so many of you taking exams this year I thought Id used this fabulous image from Christy of a Graduate.
and I printed him onto white card and coloured him with my copic pens and then cut him out with one of my Nestabilitie dies, after which I drew around the edge of the die to create the mount for it out of dark blue card then cut it out by hand, before mounting the image onto it I ran some glue around the edge and dipped it into some fine glitter. The sentiment is a mixture of two stamps as I didnt have quite the combination I wanted and felt this was just right for this card.
The base card is a 7"x 7" white card with a first layer of blue card and one of two fabulous papers from Donna's Bearly Mine Extreme designs Cd, this has swirls on in white and a base blue paper, on top of this I have layered up two pieces of two different blue strips that have been put through my cuttlebug with my star embossing folder. On top of this Ive layered another mount in a diamond shape and a second paper with stars on, and then positioned my mounted image on top of this and my sentiment at the bottom on the right.
Please pop across and visit my Design Team member entrys at http://cardsformen.blogspot.com/ as Im sure you will be amazed at their fabulous work.

One Card for Two Challenges - Just Magnolia and Stampin for the Weekend

Hi Ladies, hope you are enjoying yourselves with this fabulous weather, Im afraid I find it a bit to hot to sit out in so Ive been trying to catch up with some of my Challenges, and this one today is for the Just Magnolia's Janes Sketch, and Stampin for the Weekends "A card to make someone smile" I sincerely hope that this covers both of them.
Ive used this cute image of Tilda and coloured her this time with a combination of Copic and Promarkers then cut her out with my oval Nestabilitie Die, after which Ive used a pink catseye inkpad to distress the edges and a small peg stamp to stamp around the edges as well, Ive also done the same with the sentiment which is another of the Just Magnolia stamps. Both of these were then stuck onto mounts the image was mounted on a large Scalloped die cut and the sentiment just on a square of pink card.
The base card is a 7"x 7" white card with a first layer of pink card and one of three papers from the new Henbury Lane papers from Papermania, I think weve all fallen in love with these pretty papers and Im no exception. This first paper is a poppy one, and the second pink paper with a paler pink flower pattern on, and the third one is the pretty rose one. Ive also used two ribbons down the card and fixed them to the back of the first layer.
The mounted image was then stuck in a down position rather than across in the sketch and my sentiment was stuck at the bottom on the right hand side. To finish of Ive created a spray of flowers with this gorgeous poppy and then a few other flowers plus a couple of cheery blossoms to. The spray of pearls finished it of with a baby tears as well.

One Card for Two Challenges - Mo's and Cute Card Thursday Challenge

Good Morning Girls, well Ive eventually got around to createing a card, and this one is for two challenges, Mo's "Love" and Cute Card Thursday which entails a sketch by Caz, and I decided to use this image which  Ive created with two of Mo's gorgeous images, they are Sophie with her doll and Jill whos just about to have a tantrum with that look on her face, and you can guess what that might be about "maybe the doll". Anyway I used my graphics program to merge them together then printed it out, after which Ive coloured it with my copic pens.
The base card is a 7"x 7" white card with a first layer of blue card and one of the papers from the Henbury Lane by Papermania set, the other papers are from the new Wild Rose Floral Pack, and Ive used three papers for these, two green ones and the yellow one which has been created by using my heart all around punch set from Martha Stewart.
The card was finished of by layering up in the sketch formation and on top Ive mounted my image on some blue card and positioned it in the centre, the sentiment was created on my computer and mounted in the same way as the image.
To finish of Ive created six flowers from some of the left over paper and Ive used the Nellie Sneeden flower punches with sun centre, to finish them of Ive popped some stickles in the centres and mounted them on top of some fern leaves.

A visit to Prideaux Place - the home of Rosamunde Pilchers "Coming Home"

Good Morning Girls, I couldnt remember the name of the large house we visited while visiting Padstow on Wednesday, but after reading one of my comments I remembered the reason I needed to find out. Anyway the name of the house is Prideaux Place and it belongs to the Prideaux-Brune family, its been used for the filming of Rosamunde Pilchers "Coming Home" and Twelve Night, and in fact the floor in the great hall still bears the painting that they created for Twelve Night, as the owner of the house liked it so much it was left after the filming company had gone.
If youd like to visit this house I would click on this email address http://www.prideauxplace.co.uk/contact.html to find out more, though there isnt very much information on this site you might be able to track down more elsewhere. It is only open in the afternoons as the family are still living there (you might just meet them as you are going around with the tour guide). The house has only been open to the public for a short time and until  recently when then needed money to repair the library the grant was only given on a condition that they did so. Its well worth the visit and we had a lovely time walking around and through the beautiful rooms. I hope this helps Melodie as it seems shes a great fan of Rosamunde Pilcher, and if I remember rightly it was Joanna Lumley who was one of the actresses who took part in this TV Film.

Well Im back but not quite ready to Post a Card

Hi Girls, well I arrived back about 3.30pm this afternoon, and its been a long drive back from Looe in Cornwall but is so nice to be back in my own home. We had a really lovely time and met up with some very dear friends from Guernsey and of course did we stop chatting no, and of course our throats were sore by the end of the day but it was all worth it.
I decided to post this lovely photo that I took just after we arrived on Monday and though it rained yesterday the weather hasnt been to bad at all. I hope you like this gorgeous photo it shows the the river Looe which eventually joins the estuary and the harbour before going flowing out to the English Channel. I like it as it looks so peaceful at this point.
Weve visited Polperro and Padstow over the last couple of days and even went through my birthplace town Bodmin which was wonderful, not that its anything to brag about but its just nice to pop back there occassionally. The weather wasnt to bad and never mind it was really hot on the way home today so Im hoping our friends had a lovely day in Plymouth and Looe after we left.
Im hoping to get back to my crafting tomorrow and as soon as I do I will hopefully post a card very soon.

A card for the Just Magnolia Challenge - "For the Girls"

My card today has been created for this weeks Just Magnolia Challenge "For the Girls" and Ive used this new image of Tilda as a Ballerina then masked her to stamp the castle scene behind. I tried to colour the scene as a night scene and Im concerned that it might be a bit dark but hopefully it wont upset the balance to much. I coloured her with my copic pens, the cut her out with the large Blossom Nestabilitie die, cutting out the leg and sky first before slotting the die behind to allow me to cut them out. It was then mounted onto a dark pink mount cut with the same die. The sentiment was created on my computer and mounted with the same colour card.
The base card is a 7"x 7" white card and a first layer of pink card and one of three papers from the new Papermania Henbury Lane designs, a very pretty rose paper, the two mounts in the centre have been created by cutting the paper into 5" squares then using one of my MS all around punch sets, this one is a arched set, these were then layered up one on top of each other in a star shape, and a ribbon was then placed around the centre and attached to the back of the first layer.
The mounted image was then placed in the centre and my sentiment at the bottom on the right, Ive then created a flower with some of the left over papers and hung a charm from the pearl brad and spacer in the centre. I then stuck the flower on top of a arrangement of punched out leaves in the top left hand corner, and to finish of Ive popped some dark pink pearl gems in the other two corners.
I now want to let you know that Im going to be away for a few days so wont be visiting your blogs at least till Friday, and there wont be any more cards posted till at least then, so I hope you wont miss me to much. I also want to thank you all who have been so lovely this week with your comments in what is not the easiest time of the year for me, its helped tremedously and has allowed me to cope with it. Bless you all and Thank You for being such fabulous and sincere friends.

A Card for Two Challenges - Mo's and Cute Card Thursday

Todays card has been created for two Challenges, Mo's "Coming Up Flowers" and Cute Card Thursday's "Someone Special", and Ive used this cute image of Mo's called "Sundays Best" in her days of the week set. Ive printed her onto white card and coloured her with my copic pens, after which Ive used Rach's method of cutting around the bottom of my image then slipping it under the edge of my Blossoms Nestabilitie die. I then cut another one from yellow card and of mounted them of set, the orange mount is a circle on which I have stuck some glitter dust around the edge.
My base card is a 7"x 7" white card with a first layer of  yellow card and one of three papers from Donna's new Bearly Mine Design Sets, of Flowers, Spots and Gingham, this first paper is a pretty yellow rose paper which I thought went well with my flowers, and the second paper is a green spot and the third mount is a orange one, these were set at angles across the top and down the side. My mounted image was stuck towards the bottom on the right, and my mounted sentiment to the left.
The rose you may recognize from my tutorial last week, this was positioned on some punched out rose leaves at the top on the left and six smaller ones were then stuck in appropriate places just to finish it of.

A Card for Claire of Hope Jacare

Ive created this card for Claire of Hope Jacare, I promised her I would make a card with this digi stamp and I sincerely hope she likes my interpretation of it. This digi image is full of lovely nooks and crannies that you can colour and its called "Candyfloss Trees" with owls sitting in the holes in the trunks.
The image was printed out and coloured with my copic pens, after which Ive used MS glitters on the tree tops just to give it a little glitz.
The base card is a 7"x 7" white card, with a first layer of aqua blue card, Ive also used this for the mount and the sentiment, on this I have layered up one of three papers from the very new "Bearly Mine Designs" from Donna, she is the most talented lady I know, and these patterns are the staple ones we use like gingham, spots and flowers, Im sure you will find some beautiful designs in the sets as I have. The first paper I used was a lovely bluebell flower paper on white, and on top of this Ive used a aqua blue spotty paper and one of the Arches MS border punches which was stuck down the card, the last layer is a green gingham paper and this was also punched along the edges with a bird branch MS border punch, and this was stuck across the other two layers and a ribbon was positioned across the middle and attached to the back.
My mounted image was then stuck on top and my sentiment to the bottom on the right. The white materal flower is one of the new Prima range ones and the blue ones are ones I found in my stash, these were attached to the card with some silcone glue and some punched out fern leaves stuck underneath them.
I also want to thank you all who left the most beautiful and touching comments yesterday on what was a difficult day for me, but also a very rewarding day in many ways. So thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.

A Day for Remembrance

Today is a very difficult day for me its 45 years since my gorgeous son Ian died from a Acute Lymphatic Leukaemia, he was just short of 6 months, as you can see in this photo he was 9 weeks old and a beautiful baby, he looks a lot older than he was, and in fact when they diagnosed his condition they though he was at least 6 months but in the time I had him he lived many years, he even cut a tooth and met his great, great grandma to. I should like to introduce you to all the people who are in this photo from left to right, thats me Shirley with my son Ian on my lap and my daughter Karen in the front, she was almost 3 years old, behind her is my sister Linda with her new husband, and my brother Robin on the right, I wont tell you how old we were but this was taken in 1965 and Im now 67 years old so you can figure it out for yourself, my sister is 6 years younger and my brother 4.
Anyway as I said today is rather a difficult day and I wanted to make it special as over the last year so many of us have lost very dear ones, I lost my mum in November and I know a number of you also have lost yours, and several of my dear friends have lost children to and are finding it extremly difficult to cope with their loss, I dont think we ever get over it but have to learn to live with it. So I wanted to let you know its ok to grieve and also dont let anyone stop you talking about the ones youve lost as it helps to, its even ok to cry if that helps. My own believe is that one day I will see my son again and he will be fit and well and running around, and even probably grown up as well.
Now the Bittersweet thing thats happened today is I received a email from my future granddaughter in law, she told me that she and my eldest grandson have booked the date for their wedding, mind you its two years
away but in their neck of the woods its a necessity to get the date you want. The ironic part is theyve picked a date between my mums Birthday and her Wedding Anniversary, the 18th of August 2012, which I find is a blessing as its like my mum has sent a message to say that its ok to live again and we can look forward to a wonderful future for the pair of them. So something good has come on a day I never look forward to, and the sun is out to.
Theres also one more thing Id like to promote and thats Kimmi's Race for Life thats shes taking part in on the 23rd of May, if you would like to sponser her or give her support please pop across to http://poppy-petal-designs.blogspot.com/ and do so as Cancer is one of those dreadful deceases that really need to be got rid of.

Pink Gem Challenge - Burgandy, Pink and Green

Good Morning Girls, hope you havent got as busy day as I have, weve got the washing machine engineer due at anytime to have a look at my machine, and then weve got a parcel due by UPS so I suppose it means we are pretty house tied till both have been and gone, oh well never mind, it looks as though hubby will have to go swimming on his own. Anyway todays card has been created for the Pink Gem 4th Challenge, Burgandy Pink and Green, quite a combination dont you think, anyway I hope that Janet and team will accept my interpretation of that.
Ive used this cute image of Janets and coloured her with my copic pens, then used the oval nestabilitie die to cut her out, Ive also used the scalloped one for the mount and this has been done with red card. The sentiment is also one of Janets stamps and I felt it went well with the image.
The base card is a 6"x 6" white card with a first layer of red card, and one of two papers, this first one is a freebie I got from one of the craft magazines it came in a pad of various red and pink papers. The second strip is a piece of the Henbury Lane papers that I had left and I used my MS border punch, on top of this have put two ribbons and attached them to the back.
The mounted image was stuck on to the left hand side and my sentiment to the botton on the right. To finish of Ive created two flowers from some left over paper and the Nellie Sneden flower punches and a pearl brad was pushed through the centers after which they were then stuck on a bed of fern punched out leaves.

This fortnights challenge is to create a card with the theme of "Outside" and this is my interpretation with this lovely Skateboarder image from Claire's shop.
Ive coloured my image with my copic pens and cut it out with my rotatrim, after which Ive used some red ink to distress the edges. The image was then mounted onto a piece of red card. The sentiment is one of my craft stash, and I believe its one of Janets Pink Gem ones, this was also mounted onto a piece of red card which had been put through my cuttlebug and one of the double ended tag dies.
The base card is a 7"x 7" white card and my first layer is another piece of the same red card, and on top of this I have put two triangle pieces of paper from the Moxxie Skateboard Set, and along the seam Ive stuck a piece of tartan ribbon to disguise it. The image was then mounted in the center and my sentiment was stuck with brads to the bottom on the right hand side.
Please pop across to the Cards for Men Challenge Site and discover what my fellow DT members have created for this Challenge you will find some fabulous creations there.

Whiff of Joy Challenge - A Sketch by Jane

Hi Girls, its windy here and raining, what a lovely weekend not one you can sit on the patio is it? Anyway my card today is created for the Whiff of Joy Challenge a sketch by Jane, I dont often enter this challenge but I do like the sketch and thought Id give it a go.
Ive used this lovely image and coloured it with my copic pens and promarkers so they both got an airing for this image. After this I actually had to use a template that would cover both of the characters, then created a mount for it out of red card, the sentiment is one of Whiff of Joys own and this was mounted in the same way on red card.
The base card is a 7"x 7" white card with a first layer of dark red card, and one of two papers from the new Henbury Lane paper pack from Papermania, Ive fallen in love with these papers but unfortunately you only get one paper of each pattern which does mean that you have to certain about using it. Anyway this first layer is a pretty pink one with a paler flower pattern all over it, the second paper is just a strip and Ive used one of my MS border punches on it. This has then been stuck to the base layer and a ribbon has been placed on top and fixed to the back of the first layer.
The image was then stuck to the left hand side and the sentiment to the bottom on the right. Ive then used my templates to create the flourishes at the top and some red gems were then stuck on the marks. To finish of Ive used another of my homemade lace flowers and stuck it on top of some punched out leaves.
